Svante Pabo received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his extraordinary discovery

The 2022 Nobel Prizes have been announced, and this year the Nobel Prize in Medicine has been chosen by Svante Pabo. 

Svante Pabo is a Swedish geneticist, he has been awarded this honor for his discovery on 'the evolution of humans'. 

Svante Pabo leads the research comparing the 'genomes' of modern humans and our near-endangered species Neanderthals and Denisovans. 

Svante Pabo has provided important insights into our immune system with his discoveries on human evolution.

Born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1955, Svante Pabo is currently the director of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. 

Sune Bergstrom, who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1982, is the father of Svante Pabo.
